After two years fraught with so many challenges\, we wanted to be sure to create a space to celebrate our students. \nLet’s unlock the power of play together.\nJoin UI for a return to the Midway Plaisance! This day will feature small-sided soccer games\, recess games\, arts & crafts\, lunch and of course\, our annual awards presentation and dance party on the ice rink. You don’t want to miss out! \nVolunteer roles include: \n\n\n\nCoaching\nWe’ll have about 30 small-sided 5 v 5 soccer games at one time and we’ll need some coaches to cheer on our kids and monitor goals. Absolutely no soccer experience is required. \nSet Up\nThe UI staff team will arrive at 7am to get everything set up on the fields. The park is big and we’ll definitely need support to make sure we have everything ready by 9am. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecess Support\nOur students love recess games and we’ll be playing some classics out on the field. We’ll need some volunteers to monitor the games and maybe even participate in the fun! \nClean Up\nAfter the party is over\, we’ll have to take down all of our equipment and make sure there is no garbage left at the park. We’ll need some help until 3pm to get everything cleaned up. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nLunch Support\nThere will be about 600 students and 200 volunteers at the event. We’ll need to pass out lunches to everyone and we’ll definitely need some extra support to get it done in time. \n\n\n\n\nHype Squad\nThis is definitely the highlight of our season for all of our students. We’ll be celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s life\, donating winter weather gear\, and volunteering for Chicago’s homeless community. Come out and bring a donation of winter coats\, gloves\, hats\, scarves\, or socks and volunteer for the day. We need volunteers help delivering items to shelters and tent cities and we’ll be assigning volunteers to volunteer projects at shelters across the city.

All volunteers need is a car\, phone\, and PPE to complete the deliveries. Arrive at the volunteer location at your chosen time slot for a quick training and then help us with 6 to 7 seven deliveries. Two volunteers (each with their own car) are needed at each time slot. If you’d like to participate with a partner\, as long as you’re only using one car you’ll be treated as one volunteer \nThe day prior to your scheduled volunteer event you will receive an email from TopBox with additional information.
